Baby-Friendly Hospital Initiative (BFHI) Accredited

As a BFHI-accredited hospital, we actively promote mother-infant bonding and provide comprehensive support for breastfeeding and newborn care.

Exclusive Breastfeeding Support

Breast milk provides your baby with optimal nutrition, antibodies to fight infections, and is easier to digest. It also benefits mothers by reducing the risk of breast and ovarian cancer and strengthens the bond with your baby. The BFHI, launched by WHO and UNICEF in 1991, recognises hospitals that implement practices to protect, promote, and support breastfeeding. Our hospital follows the Ten Steps to Successful Breastfeeding, including:

  1. Having a written breastfeeding policy
  2. Training staff in breastfeeding skills
  3. Providing patient education
  4. Initiating skin-to-skin contact and breastfeeding within the first half-hour after birth
  5. Maintaining lactation even if mother and baby are separated
  6. Feeding newborns only breast milk, unless medically indicated
  7. Practicing rooming-in 24 hours a day
  8. Supporting breastfeeding on demand
  9. Avoiding artificial teats or pacifiers for breastfeeding infants

Our nurses and lactation consultants are trained to support your breastfeeding journey. Rooming-in with your baby helps facilitate bonding, establish breastfeeding, and build confidence in responding to your baby’s needs.
