"My volunteering journey at SGH began in 2022, and it has been incredibly rewarding. I enjoy helping patients in the wards regain their mobility after surgery by walking with them and guiding them through simple bedside exercises. As part of the SGH Medical Chaperone programme, I also escort patients to their outpatient medical appointments.
I find it deeply meaningful to engage in light conversations and fulfilling to bring a smile to patients and community partners. Behind every conversation lies a story, and each one is truly special!"
"I love being a Guider at SGH! My role allows me to do a variety of things—guiding people to their destinations, assisting with the registration kiosk, helping foreign patients make local calls, and even buying lunch for a senior patient who forgot her purse.
The joy of seeing a grateful smile and the connections I make with those I help are truly rewarding. A patient once told me that because of me, the world feels like a better place. That moment stayed with me. I feel happy to play my small part in helping others. Thank you, SGH, for giving me the opportunity to serve the community!"
