Advanced Vascular Solutions for Kidney Disease Patients

Our Interventional Nephrology (INS) Program offers a comprehensive service for patients with end-stage kidney disease who are experiencing vascular access problems. We have dedicated interventional nephrology suites that are fully equipped with advanced fluoroscopy and ultrasound technology, enabling our team to perform a wide range of minimally invasive endovascular procedures.

We specialise in the diagnosis, treatment, and maintenance of dialysis access, helping to keep your dialysis treatments running smoothly. This includes procedures such as angioplasty, thrombectomy, and the creation and maintenance of arteriovenous fistulas (AVF).

We are also experienced in the latest techniques, including the endovascular arteriovenous fistula (endoAVF) creation—a minimally invasive alternative to traditional surgical AVF that can offer faster recovery and less discomfort.

Our dedicated multi-disciplinary team, comprising of nephrologists, interventional radiologists and vascular surgeons, ensures prompt, expert care to maximise the lifespan and function of your vascular access, supporting your ongoing kidney care and quality of life.

Innovating Dialysis Care in the Community

In addition to the advanced services provided at our Interventional Nephrology (INS) Suite, the Interventional Nephrology Service is proud to lead award-winning community initiatives that improve the everyday experience of dialysis patients.

Two innovative programmes - BLAST and CLEAR - were developed to manage tunnelled haemodialysis catheter (THC) issues in a timely, accessible way, without need for hospital referral.

• BLAST focuses on the early detection and prevention of catheter blockages. This includes targeted anticoagulation, personalised dosing, and standardised care techniques to keep your access working well.
• CLEAR trains dialysis nurses to safely treat catheter blockages on-site, reducing treatment disruptions and improving convenience for patients.

Led by Dr Tan Ru Yu and supported by a dedicated multidisciplinary team, this initiative was awarded the Excellence Champion Medal in recognition of its impact on delivering patient-centred innovation in the community.
