Specimen Required	Nasopharyngeal aspirate/wash, throat/nasopharyngeal swabs, sputum Urine in urine culture bottle Brain and skin biopsies If virus isolation is required as well, send samples (except urine & blood) in virus transport medium. Otherwise, send in sterile bottles with 1 – 2 mL of sterile saline. (See also Virology Section, General Guidelines for Viral Antigen Detection)
Storage/Transport	Refrigerate samples until transport to laboratory. Do not freeze. Transport samples on ice pack to laboratory.
