Cancer has generally projected a negative perspective among the general public despite advancement in medicine. Patients and family often go through the trajectory of the cancer journey which can be physically and emotionally challenging.
The Oncology Support Group (OSG) was officially established to support patients with cancer and their families throughout this journey. The group was created to provide holistic care that goes beyond medical treatment, recognising that emotional well‑being, daily functioning and social support are equally important.
The aim of OSG is to help patients function at the best possible level within the realities of their illness and treatment. By joining the group, patients and caregivers can gain practical knowledge, reassurance and support to better cope with the impact of cancer and to manage self‑care at home.
The group is led by SGH healthcare professionals, including nurses who support and guide discussions. Through education and supportive engagement, the nurses help participants better understand their condition, cope with challenges and feel more confident in managing care beyond the hospital setting.
