Haemophilia is a lifelong condition that affects the blood’s ability to clot properly. This can lead to prolonged bleeding, joint pain, and other complications that may affect daily life. Living with haemophilia often requires ongoing care, careful planning, and support—not just for patients, but also for their families and caregivers.
The Haemophilia Support Group brings together patients, caregivers, and a multidisciplinary healthcare team from Singapore General Hospital (SGH), including nurses, physiotherapists, medical social workers, doctors, and laboratory staff. The group was formed to better understand and address the challenges faced by people living with haemophilia and those caring for them.
The aim of the support group is to provide a supportive environment where patients and families can feel heard, stay informed, and connect with others who share similar experiences. By joining the group, participants can gain emotional support, practical advice, and a stronger sense of community as they navigate life with haemophilia.
The group is supported by a multidisciplinary SGH care team, including nurses and other healthcare professionals who are familiar with the day‑to‑day realities of living with haemophilia. Meetings may take place on an ad‑hoc basis, depending on patient needs and circumstances.
Support group gatherings and educational sessions provide a space for patients and families to learn, ask questions, and connect with others in a similar situation. These sessions are focused on support and shared learning, helping participants feel more confident and less alone in managing haemophilia.
