SingHealth Gynae Oncology Support Group

Synonym(s):

Gynaecological cancers affect parts of the female reproductive system, such as the ovaries, uterus, cervix and womb. The Gynae-Onco Support Group supports individuals affected by gynaecologic cancers, including patients and their loved ones. We provide a safe and supportive space where members can openly share their experiences, concerns, and challenges without fear of judgment.

Through regular meetups and interactions, the group encourages peer support and fosters a sense of community, helping individuals feel less alone in their journey. Members can connect with others who are going through similar experiences, offering mutual encouragement and understanding. The group also serves as a platform to exchange practical tips and information on coping with treatment, managing side effects, and navigating the emotional and psychological impact. Where possible, we may also invite healthcare professionals or organise sharing sessions to provide additional insights and support.

Our aim is to empower members with knowledge, build resilience, and provide ongoing emotional support throughout their journey.

Who this is for

  • Patients who have been diagnosed with gynaecological cancers
  • Caregivers, family members, or next‑of‑kin supporting a loved one with gynaecologic cancer

How we help patients with gynaecologic cancers

  • Peer support and sharing: Opportunities for members to connect, listen, and learn from one another’s lived experiences
  • Regular meetups and interactions: Sessions that encourage mutual encouragement and a sense of community
  • Practical coping tips: Sharing of experiences related to treatment, managing side effects, and navigating emotional and psychological challenges
  • Occasional sharing sessions: Where possible, healthcare professionals may be invited to offer additional insights and support

The group is facilitated by SGH nurses who understand the care journey and the concerns that patients and families may face. Participation focuses on open sharing, listening, and mutual encouragement in a supportive environment.

There is no expectation for members to speak if they are not ready - some may prefer to listen first. Participation is aimed at providing emotional support and connection, rather than medical treatment. Details on registration or participation will be shared by the care team where applicable.
