Dementia Support Group

Synonym(s):

Living with dementia affects not only the individual, but also for the family members and caregivers who walk this journey alongside them. Changes in memory, thinking, behaviour, and daily functioning can bring uncertainty, emotional strain, and many unanswered questions. For caregivers, the role can feel overwhelming at times.

Our Dementia Support Group brings individuals with dementia and their caregivers together to share experiences, receive emotional support, and connect with others who truly understand the realities of dementia care. We aim to reduce feelings of isolation and help families feel more supported in their caregiving journey.

Supported by a multidisciplinary healthcare team, our group focuses on understanding common concerns, learning coping strategies, and building confidence in managing day‑to‑day challenges.

Who this is for

  • All individuals living with dementia
  • Family members and caregivers supporting a loved one with dementia

How we help

We provide care and encouragement through:

  • Emotional support and peer sharing in a safe, respectful environment
  • Shared coping strategies and approaches to support daily living and well‑being
  • Guidance on cognitive skills, caregiving challenges, and available support resources

Our sessions give caregivers and individuals living with dementia the opportunity to speak openly, ask questions, or simply listen and learn from others. We recognise that everyone copes differently, and we aim to create a space where participants feel heard, understood, and supported at their own pace.
