Recovering from a burn injury can be a long and challenging journey, requiring ongoing therapy, regular exercises, and consistent care to support healing and manage scarring. Beyond physical recovery, burn survivors and their families often need emotional and social support as they adjust to life after injury.
The Burns Support Group (BSG) was established to meet this need, providing a platform for burn survivors and their caregivers to connect, share experiences, and support one another. The group was formed as part of the SGH Total Burns Care Programme, launched in 2003 with support from ExxonMobil, and was officially introduced on 17 April 2004.
Supported by a multidisciplinary team—including doctors, nurses, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, dietitians, social workers, pharmacists, and skin bank staff—the Burns Support Group complements ongoing medical care by fostering a supportive community for both patients and families throughout their recovery journey.
Members of the Burns Support Group can benefit from being part of a community that understands the physical and emotional challenges of burn recovery.
