Clinical Rheumatology Services
(Outpatient clinics: General Rheumatology clinics & Subspecialty clinics and Inpatient service)

  • Autoimmune/ Connective tissue diseases including Systemic Lupus Erythematosus, Systemic Sclerosis, Systemic Vasculitis, Inflammatory Myositis.
  • Inflammatory arthritis including Rheumatoid Arthritis and Spondyloarthritis. 
  • Crystal-induced arthritis including Gout and Pseudogout 
  • Degenerative arthritis including Osteoarthritis 

Enhanced Rheumatology Services

  • Advanced therapeutics infusion service (outpatient and inpatient) for biologic agents (including TNF inhibitors, JAK-1 inhibitors, IL-6 inhibitors, B-cell depletion therapy) and other medications (including intravenous cyclophosphamide, anti-resorptive therapies)
  • SGH RHI manages severe rheumatological diseases with Plasma Exchange, in collaboration with SGH Haematology and SGH Renal Medicine
  • SGH RHI looks at the future now with exploration of advanced Immuno-Cellular therapy in conjunction with SGH Haematology
  • Musculoskeletal ultrasound 
  • Nailfold capillaroscopy 
  • Nurse/ Pharmacist-led monitoring clinics to monitor stable patients on treatment with a variety of disease modifying anti-rheumatic drugs 
  • Urgent care clinics (led by Advance Practice Nurse) to support patients who have active disease (flare), side effects from medications (e.g. immunosuppressants)
  • Patient education and counselling by a dedicated Rheumatology Nurse Educator

What do Autoimmunity and Rheumatology mean?

Autoimmunity is a term used in medicine to describe conditions in which the immune system attacks the body. Autoimmune disorders may affect any part of the body, including the joints, skin and internal organs such as the kidneys and the brain. Autoimmune disorders include:

  • Rheumatoid arthritis, spondyloarthritis and psoriatic arthritis
  • Systemic lupus erythematosus, systemic sclerosis, Sjogren’s syndrome, inflammatory myositis and systemic vasculitis.

Rheumatology is a subspecialty in Internal Medicine that focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of disorders related to the joints and soft tissues.
