Neuroscience Clinic @ SGH Emergency / NNI Building

Synonym(s):

The Neuroscience Clinic at the SGH Emergency / National Neuroscience Institute (NNI) delivers integrated, patient‑centred outpatient care for a wide range of neurological conditions affecting the brain, spine, nerves and muscles.

Located on Level 10 of the SGH Emergency / NNI building, the clinic works closely with the Neuro‑Diagnostic & Therapeutic Centre (NDTC) to support coordinated, multidisciplinary care. This model enables allied health professionals to work alongside neurologists and specialist nurses, providing comprehensive one‑stop services designed around patients’ needs.

Integrated, Multidisciplinary Care

Multi‑disciplinary clinics are being rolled out, starting with the Parkinson’s & Movement Disorders Clinic. Physiotherapists, occupational therapists and speech therapists now run weekly sessions within the clinic alongside neurologists and specialist nurses, enabling same-day assessment for more urgent cases, (appointment slots permitting). This integrated approach supports timely decision‑making, reduces fragmentation of care, and enhances the overall patient experience.

Dedicated treatment rooms within the clinic support short intravenous infusions for conditions such as migraines, dementia and multiple sclerosis. Lumbar punctures can also be performed within the clinic, avoiding the need for hospital admission where appropriate.

Purpose-designed Facility

The Neuroscience Clinic and NDTC are a purpose‑designed outpatient facility supporting specialist consultations, diagnostic assessments and follow‑up care. The layout is optimised for efficient patient flow, timely reviews and close collaboration among neurology, nursing and allied health teams.

The new NDTC serves both outpatients and patients awaiting admission at the SGH Emergency Department, allowing the existing NDTC next to Ward 74 to focus more on inpatient care. This also future‑proofs neuroscience services to meet growing demand associated with Singapore’s ageing population.
