Envisioned Future

The rapidly ageing population is a worldwide phenomenon. Coupled with decades of low birth-rates, the strain on healthcare provision and cost will be enormous. To mitigate this, successful ageing is the major health goal.

We envision SGH would be developed into the thought leader in Ageing research, with the following aims:

1. To support successful ageing through enhancing community care models and chronic disease management.
2. To transform osteoarthritis care for the elderly through discovering risk factors, transforming arthroplasty using innovative technologies, improving knee arthroplasty outcomes and providing cost-effective care models.
3. To improve perioperative care in elderly patients through the development of risk stratification models using big data analysis.
