The Research & Innovation Office (RIO) at Singapore General Hospital serves as a catalyst in advancing research and innovation, through strategic coordination and management. As a centralised hub, RIO advances the hospital's mission by spearheading SGH’s research and innovation masterplan, fostering talent development and strengthening institutional capabilities to drive research and innovation excellence.

Research Quality and Integrity

Our Research support SGH and our study teams in complying with ethical principles and regulatory requirements. We support institutional checks for IRB submissions, clinical trial monitoring, clinical research study review, and research compliance matters.

Research Strategy and Communications

We formulate and spearhead SGH’s strategic research initiatives through stakeholder collaborations to advance the SGH’s Research Masterplan. Our team maintains research and innovation communication channels and organizes engagement events, while managing research-related IT resources.

Grants and Fund Management

We enhance SGH's research capacity through strategic management of research and innovation grants, as well as talent development awards. We support our study teams in seeking funding opportunities, facilitating grant applications and managing post-award grant matters.

Agreements and Partnerships

We support our investigators and innovators in facilitates the establishment of formal research and innovation collaborations with our academic, healthcare and industry partners.

Innovation

We drive SGH's innovation strategy through strategic coordination within the SingHealth Duke-NUS Academic Medical Centre and partnerships with our academic and industry partners, positioning SGH as a premier medical innovation hub. Our team oversees innovation governance, supports commercialisation and translation, and nurtures innovator talent to advance healthcare transformation.
