Profile

A/Prof. Darren Tay graduated from the National University of Singapore (NUS) in 1999. He then completed his orthopaedic residency training locally in 2009 followed by his clinical fellowship in hip and knee arthroplasty at the Southampton General Hospital, UK from 2010 to 2011.

He is currently practicing at the Singapore General Hospital (SGH) as a senior consultant, deputy HOD (Clinical Services) and director of the acute care service in the department of Orthopaedic Surgery. He was also the past chairman, Chapter of Orthopaedic Surgery, Singapore.

His main interest is in adult reconstruction surgery include minimally invasive partial knee resurfacing, complex primary and revision joint replacements, and robotic-assisted hip and knee arthroplasty. In this field, A/Prof Tay is often involved in local and regional arthroplasty courses, as well as being an invited speaker in both regional and international conferences.

A/Prof Tay is also involved in both undergraduate and postgraduate medical education and examinations. He holds the positions of clinical associate professor in Duke-NUS Medical School and adjunct associate professor with both the NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine and the Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine. In addition, he is physician faculty and member of the clinical competency committee for the Singhealth orthopaedic residency program as well as member of the examination committee for both the Masters of Medicine and Fellow Royal College of Surgeons in Orthopaedic Surgery.
