Profile

​Dr Steven J. Mesenas graduated from the National University of Singapore with a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) in 1990 and became a Member of the Royal Colleges of Physicians of the United Kingdom [MRCP(UK)] in 1995.  He is also a fellow of the Academy of Medicine, Singapore.  He started training in Gastroenterology at Singapore General Hospital in 1996 and has completed advanced fellowships in interventional endoscopy and endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) at the Academic Medical Centre, University of Amsterdam, Amsterdam, The Netherlands in 1999 – 2000 and endosonography (EUS) at St Thomas’ Hospital, London, UK in 2004 / 2005.

He has published in local and international journals on endosonography and therapeutic endoscopy.  Dr Mesenas has been an invited demonstrator and moderator in several region endoscopic workshops and was the course director for the Endoscopy workshop of GI Hep 2007 (Singapore).  He is currently Senior Consultant Gastroenterologist at Singapore General Hospital and Clinical Senior Lecturer, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine.  He was also Director of the Singapore General Hospital, Endoscopy Centre from 2006 to 2013 and specializes in gastroenterology, interventional and advanced endoscopic techniques like ERCP and EUS.
