Management of Clients with Upper Limb Conditions (Rheumatology)

The course aims to equip occupational therapists with the relevant knowledge and skills to manage common rheumatological conditions seen at work. It aims to deepen participants’ understanding of the etiology of conditions such as osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis and repetitive stress injuries like trigger finger and dequervain’s tenosynovitis and provide evidence-based intervention strategies for these conditions.

Participants will be introduced to splints and supports commonly used to treat and manage these rheumatology conditions. As part of the course, participants will have the opportunity to practice fabricating common splints used in rheumatology, for example the resting hand splint, finger trough and thumb splints.
