Managing Asthma in 2021– the new normal in the new normal

The past few years have seen important changes to the way asthma is managed, especially for patients with mild asthma. The formal introduction of an inhaled anti-inflammatory reliever presents a new management option and offers an opportunity for the patient and his/her healthcare provider to discuss treatment goals and options.

With the COVID-19 pandemic showing no signs of abating, it is also imperative that providers understand the impact of the pandemic in their patients and be able to apply current best management practices.

After the lecture, participants will be able to:

  • Understand the latest recommendations on asthma management and, in particular, when and how to use inhaled corticosteroids
  • Recognise common challenges and practical tips on how to implement recommendations in practice according to the guideline
  • Cite key considerations in managing patients in the current COVID-19 pandemic
