CA in Breast Ultrasound

Application Timeline

For overseas applicants:

A full set of required documents to be submitted at least 6 months before the attachment start date.

For local applicants:

A full set of required documents to be submitted at least 3 months before the attachment start date.

Duration

4 weeks

Criteria

Only for organisation sponsored practising / registered Radiographers who practices Breast Ultrasound (Beginners may also apply)

Note: Each request is subject to Department's review and approval

Objectives

To provide participants with advanced knowledge and core competency skills in breast ultrasound and ultrasound guided intervention procedures.

Outline

Upon successful completion of the programme, participants will be able to:

  • Describe the anatomy and physiology of the breasts
  • Explain the Physics and Principles of Ultrasound
  • Understand the fundamentals of Ultrasound such as TCG, Depth, & Focal Zone
  • Observe quality assurance procedures for transducers
  • Describe how QC test results are analysed and take corrective actions, when necessary
  • Observe how clinical breast examination is conducted
  • Observe breast biopsy procedures such as mammographic guided vacuum-assisted biopsy & localization procedures
  • Appreciate the importance of patient communications and counselling skills
  • Observe scanning techniques to produce quality sonographic images of the breast
  • Appreciate pathology and pattern recognition of sonographic features in breast ultrasound
    Correlate breast lesions visualized in mammogram using breast ultrasound

  • Tutorials (physics and sonographic appearances of breast pathologies)
  • Multiple choice questions
  • Task-oriented discussion
  • Demonstration of supervised tasks
  • Learner report of learning
  • Image viewing & assessment

Attachment Fees

1. Training Fee (5-day work week) depending on the nature of attachment

At least SGD $600* per applicant per week


2. Administrative Fee Upon Acceptance (non-refundable)

Singaporeans: SGD $150* 

Non-Singaporeans & Overseas Applicants: SGD $240* 


3. Miscellaneous Fees for Overseas Applicants (Non-Singaporeans) [non-refundable]

a. Training Employment Pass (TEP)

  • One time application fee: SGD $105
  • Issuance Fee: SGD $225

b. Multiple Journey visa (if applicable): SGD $30
