SGH Introduces PayNow for Refunds

Synonym(s):

At Singapore General Hospital, we are committed to providing our patients with convenient and efficient services. To enhance your experience with us, we are excited to announce a significant change in our refund process.

Starting 15 Jan 2024, Singapore General Hospital (SGH) is excited to initiate a transition in our refund process.

We will begin refunding via PayNow linked with National Registration Identity Card (NRIC) number or Foreign Identification Number (FIN), marking a shift away from the conventional method of issuing cheques. This change is aimed at providing our patients with a faster and more streamlined reimbursement experience.

We appreciate your understanding and cooperation during this period of change as we work to enhance our services and embrace more efficient financial transactions.

How PayNow Refunds Work

PayNow is a secure and efficient funds transfer service designed to provide you with a hassle-free way to receive money directly into your bank account using your NRIC/FIN. With PayNow, your personal banking information remains private.

If a refund is required, the funds will be transferred via PayNow to the NRIC/FIN of the patient. Thereafter, we will send an SMS notification to inform the patient of the successful transaction after one working day.

Please note that PayNow-mobile number is not accepted for this purpose. Specific instructions on how to link your NRIC/FIN to PayNow can be found on your respective bank's website.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) about PayNow Refunds

Processing refunds using your NRIC/FIN enhances security by ensuring that the refund is accurately delivered to the rightful recipient. Each NRIC/FIN is a unique identifier for individuals.

While mobile numbers can change and are not unique to individuals, we prioritise accuracy. Therefore, refunds via PayNow are exclusively processed using NRIC/FIN as they provide a secure and unchanging proxy to ensure the money reaches the correct recipient.

We strongly recommend setting up a PayNow account using your NRIC/FIN for a quicker and more convenient refund process. This will streamline your refund experience before your hospital or clinic visit/admission.

To confirm your NRIC/FIN registration for PayNow, please contact your bank directly, as they maintain PayNow records.
