For detection and quantitative measurement of Epstein-Barr virus DNA. As an adjunct in diagnosis, prognostication and post-treatment monitoring of nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC). Also used in diagnosis of post transplant lymphoproliferative disorders (PTLD), EBV-associated posterior uveitis and in diagnosis of central nervous system lymphoma in AIDS patients.
3-5 ml of whole blood in EDTA
Refrigerate sample until transfer to laboratory. Do not freeze. Sample should reach the laboratory as soon as possible, preferably within 24 hours after collection.
