Lab Section Category	Virology View write-up
Specimen Required	3 – 5 mL plain blood or 6 mL unclotted blood in EDTA tube within 1 week of illness. Where clinically indicated, 1 – 2 mL CSF in sterile bottle. (See also Virology Section, General Guidelines for Virus Isolation & Collection Methods for Virus Isolation by Sample Type)
Storage/Transport	Refrigerate samples until transport to laboratory. Do not freeze. Transport samples on ice pack to laboratory.
