CHLAMYDIA TRACHOMATIS AND NEISSERIA GONORRHOEAE PCR (QUALITATIVE)

Description

Indications

​To aid in the diagnosis of chlamydial and gonorrheal urogenital disease, in both symptomatic as well as asymptomatic individuals.

Specimen Required

​(a) Urine (preferred sample for men): First morning voided urine is best. Alternatively, patient must not urinate within two hours prior to urine collection. Collect the first 15 - 20 mL of voided urine in a plastic, preservative-free sterile container.

(b) Endocervical/ vaginal swab: Use only Dacron-tipped swabs. Send in swab sheath without any media.

(c) Urethral swab: Use aluminum Dacron-tipped swab. Send swab in swab sheath.

(d) Eye swab: Send dry swab without any media

Storage and Transport

​Refrigerate sample until transfer to laboratory. Do not freeze. Send sample at 2 - 8°C (with an ice-pack) and sample must reach the lab within 24 hours after collection.
