Axial Spondyloarthritis axSpA PROMs: BASDAI

At Singapore General Hospital (SGH), Patient-Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs) were collected from patients with axial spondyloarthritis (axSpA) between January 2018 and March 2023. The Bath Ankylosing Spondylitis Disease Activity Index (BASDAI) was used to understand disease activity from the patient’s perspective.

Among 331 patients, 72.8% reported a BASDAI score below 4, indicating low disease activity, while 27.2% reported a score of 4 or higher, indicating active disease. The results suggest favourable symptom control for most patients while identifying a sizeable subgroup who may benefit from closer monitoring or treatment optimisation.

These findings reflect SGH’s ongoing efforts to incorporate patients’ perspectives into care, monitor disease activity and support better outcomes for people living with axSpA.
