To assist in the diagnosis of mpox (monkeypox) infections. At the point of writing, this assay is NOT meant to be a substitute for mpox virus testing by the National Public Health Laboratory (NPHL) of Singapore, for suspect mpox cases, but to assist clinicians in screening for at-risk cases NOT meeting MOH criteria, i.e. not eligible for free testing by NPHL. All samples from patients meeting MOH criteria will need to be sent to the NPHL for testing, after notifying the MOH duty officer (tel. 98171463). |

| Storage/Transport |
Specimens within the SGH Campus must be transported in airtight secondary containers and hand-portered to Academia. For samples arriving from outside SGH Campus, please ensure the samples are triple-packed. Specimens may be transported at 18-25°C to the laboratory if the total storage and transport time does not exceed 1 hour. If total storage and transport time will exceed 1 hour, specimens should be stored refrigerated (2-8°C) and transported at 2-8°C (with ice pack), and should reach the laboratory within 24 hours after collection. |
