CYTOMEGALOVIRUS (CMV) QUANTITATIVE PCR (NON-BLOOD)

​0.5 - 1 ml CSF
For vitreous or eye tap: As much sample as possible. Collect sample in a sterile leak-proof container or in a syringe with needle removed.
For blood samples, the Roche COBAS® AmpliPrep/COBAS® TaqMan CMV test is used. Please see CMV Quantitative PCR (EDTA-Blood).

​For detection and quantification of CMV DNA. As an adjunct for the diagnosis or prediction of CMV disease, i.e. from reactivation of latent disease in immunocompromised patients or in primary infection.

​Refrigerate sample until transfer to laboratory. Do not freeze. Send sample at 2 - 8⁰C. Sample should reach the laboratory as soon as possible preferably within 24 hours after collection.
