Hip Function PROMs Oxford Hip Score

Synonym(s):

Hip conditions can significantly affect mobility, daily activities and overall quality of life. To understand the impact of treatment from the patient's perspective, Singapore General Hospital (SGH) uses Patient Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs) as part of its ongoing outcomes monitoring programme. Patients undergoing total hip replacement are assessed using the Oxford Hip Score before surgery and again six months after surgery.

For the January to December 2025 data collection period, 178 patients who underwent primary unilateral total hip replacement had both baseline and six-month follow-up PROMs available. Of these patients, 98.3% reported improved hip function six months after surgery, based on the Oxford Hip Score.

The findings demonstrate the value of incorporating patients' own assessments into care, helping SGH track outcomes that reflect improvements in function and everyday living.
