Bone Densitometry

Positron Emission Tomography (PET)

PET is an advanced molecular imaging technique for oncology, cardiology, neurology and infection/inflammation. An integrated PET/CT scanner provides functional information with anatomic correlation.
PET imaging at our centre employs a diverse array of radioactive tracers, each designed for specific clinical applications.

  • F-18 fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) remains our most widely used tracer, serving multiple purposes including tumour and infection imaging, myocardial viability assessment, and neurological applications such as early dementia evaluation and refractory epilepsy workup
  • Ga-68 DOTATATE for neuroendocrine and other somatostatin receptor positive tumours
  • Ga-68 PSMA ligand is our standard tracer for prostate cancer imaging
  • F-18 Flutemetamol (Vizamyl) for amyloid imaging
  • C-11 Acetate for hepatocellular carcinoma imaging, especially for well-differentiated tumours
  • F-18 Fluoroethyltyrosine (FET) for brain tumours, differentiation between tumor progression and treatment-related changes
  • Ga-68 Exendin for insulinomas and congenital hyperinsulinism
  • Ga-68 Fibroblast Activation Protein Inhibitor (FAPI), which targets cancer-associated fibroblasts and is particularly useful in cancers with high stromal content
  • F-18 Fluorodopa (FDOPA) serves specific applications in imaging pheochromocytoma, paraganglioma, and medullary thyroid cancer, as well as evaluating Parkinson's disease

Nuclear Medicine Therapy

Radioiodine Therapy
Oral administration of I-131 for the treatment of thyrotoxicosis (e.g. Graves’ disease, toxic multinodular goitre or toxic adenoma) and differentiated thyroid carcinomas.
Radio-iodine(I-131) Treatment

Selective Internal Radiation Therapy (SIRT)
Local radiation therapy for liver tumours. The procedure is performed in close coordination with interventional radiologists by delivering radioactive Y-90 microspheres into the arteries supplying the tumours.

Peptide Receptor Radionuclide Therapy (PRRT)
Molecular targeted therapy for inoperable metastatic well- or moderately-differentiated neuroendocrine tumours. The treatment is performed with intravenous administration of radioactive somatostatin analogue (e.g. Lu-177 or Y-90-labeled radiopeptide).
Peptide Receptor Radionuclide Therapy

Lutetium-177 PSMA (LuPSMA) Radionuclide Therapy

A theranostic approach in the treatment of metastatic prostate cancer. This targeted radioligand therapy works by specifically binding to Prostate-Specific Membrane Antigen (PSMA), a protein highly expressed on the surface of prostate cancer cells.
Lutetium-177 PSMA (LuPSMA) radionuclide therapy

Radium223 Therapy

A targeted alpha-emitting radiopharmaceutical specifically approved for the treatment of patients with castration-resistant prostate cancer (CRPC) with symptomatic bone metastases and no known visceral metastases.

Radiosynovectomy

Radiosynovectomy (also known as radiation synovectomy or radiosynoviorthesis) is a minimally invasive therapeutic procedure used to treat persistent joint inflammation that has not responded adequately to conventional treatments. This therapy involves the intra-articular injection of radioactive isotopes to irradiate and ablate inflamed synovial tissue.
Radiosynovectomy

I-131 MIBG Therapy

A targeted radiation treatment that uses radioactive molecules to treat specific types of neuroendocrine tumours. This specialised treatment is particularly effective for neuroblastoma in children and phaeochromocytoma in adults.

Non-Imaging Nuclear Medicine Tests

  • Cr-51 EDTA renal clearance study for evaluation of glomerular filtration rate
  • Helicobacter pylori C-14 breath test (Urea Breath Test)
  • Hormone immunoassays for assessing thyroid, fertility and metabolic functions (from our Endocrine Laboratories)

Production of Radiopharmaceuticals

Our radiochemistry laboratory synthesises a comprehensive range of radiopharmaceuticals for in-house use as well as for sale to other centres in Singapore. Our staff also manage the operations of the Positron Tracers Pte Ltd (PTPL) cyclotron facility (a GMP-certified radiochemistry facility for synthesis of FDG) which is a 3-partner joint venture company, physically located in our department.
