What is a DXA BCA Test?
A Dual X-ray Absorptiometry (DXA) BCA Test uses low dose X-rays to analyse the distribution of fat, muscle mass and bone in the body.
What to do before the test?
Clothing
You will be asked to remove your clothing and put on a hospital gown.
Dietary preparation
- Overnight fasting is required.
- Avoid taking calcium supplements for 24 hours before
Medical leave
No medical leave will be issued. A time chit can be provided upon request.
During the Test
You will be lying down on the examination table and be required to remain still. The imaging process generally does not cause any discomfort and the whole procedure takes about 10 to 15 minutes to complete. Should there be any concerns or discomfort during the examination, please inform the staff attending to you.
Many of our patients are elderly and some may require additional assistance, as such we may not be able to keep strictly to the schedule. Your understanding is greatly appreciated.
