Beyond diagnostics, we provide minimally invasive, image-guided procedures that are used to both diagnose and treat a range of conditions. Spearheaded by the Department of Vascular and Interventional Radiology, SGH has been designated a Centre of Excellence by the International Accreditation System for Interventional Oncology (IASIOS). These advanced procedures offer smaller incisions, reduced pain, and faster recovery times compared to traditional surgery, making them a preferred option for selected patients.
To support these services, we run a dedicated, imaging-based clinic focused on holistic, patient-centred care. Each patient will undergo a detailed consultation with our specialists, who will review your medical history, any prior imaging, and treatment records.
We work closely with specialists in Orthopaedic Surgery, Oncology, Radiation Oncology, Rheumatology, and Vascular and Interventional Radiology to deliver integrated, multidisciplinary care, and develop personalised treatment plans tailored to each patient’s needs. If a procedure is recommended, we will explain the process in detail, including preparation instructions, what to expect during the procedure, and aftercare guidelines.

Image-guided Procedures
We provide a comprehensive range of advanced, image-guided procedures for the diagnosis and treatment of different musculoskeletal conditions, using advanced imaging techniques, including CT, ultrasound and fluoroscopy.
Diagnostic & Therapeutic Joint Injections
Targeted injections into facet joints (spine), sacroiliac joints, and major peripheral joints (shoulder, hip and knee) for pain management.
Spine Interventions
Minimally invasive treatments that target various spinal conditions and radicular pain syndromes. For example: epidural steroid injections (whole spine), nerve root blocks and medial branch blocks.
Vertebral Augmentation Procedures
Vertebroplasty and kyphoplasty for the treatment of painful vertebral compression fractures, providing rapid pain relief and mechanical stabilisation of the affected vertebrae.
Soft Tissue and Bone Biopsies
Accurate percutaneous biopsies of bone tumours, soft tissue masses, and inflammatory lesions under CT, ultrasound, or fluoroscopic guidance for definitive histological diagnosis.
Radiofrequency Ablation (RFA)
Targeted pain relief utilising thermal ablation to the affected area. For example: ablation of bone tumours for pain relief and local tumour control, and selected nerve ablation for nerve-related pain.
Peripheral Nerve Blocks and Neurolysis
Image-guided nerve blocks and neurolytic procedures (including alcohol, phenol, and cryoablation) for long-term management of chronic pain conditions.
Tendon and Ligament Treatments
Ultrasound-guided procedures such as platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injections, prolotherapy, and needle tenotomy for chronic tendon and ligament injuries.
Joint Aspirations and Therapeutic Injections
Diagnostic synovial fluid aspiration and therapeutic intra-articular injections, including corticosteroids and viscosupplementation, for inflammatory and degenerative joint conditions.
