Beware of Phishing Scam Involving Fake Eye Drop Advertisements

Singapore General Hospital (SGH) has issued a warning to the public regarding a series of fraudulent advertisements circulating online. These advertisements, which prominently feature the SGH logo, falsely promote a non-existent eye drop product and are suspected to be part of a phishing scheme designed to deceive individuals to collect personal information.

The counterfeit ads have been spotted on various social media and news platforms. The fake ads will lead unsuspecting readers to malicious websites that request personal details such as names, addresses, and credit card details.

As a public hospital, SGH is not allowed to promote, advertise, or endorse any particular brand or product in accordance to the Healthcare Services Act.

To stay protected against such scams, the hospital advises:

Always verify the authenticity of any advertisement that claims to be linked to SGH through official channels.
Avoid clicking on links from unknown sources or providing personal information online.
Regularly update your cybersecurity measures and be cautious of unsolicited communications asking for sensitive information.
