About

Dr Leonard Eng is a Consultant with the Department of Psychiatry at Singapore General Hospital and the SingHealth Duke-NUS Sleep Centre, with sub-specialty interests in sleep medicine and neurostimulation therapies for psychiatric disorders.

He received his MBChB from the University of Manchester, UK, and completed psychiatry specialty training in Singapore in 2020. Following his SingHealth HMDP Fellowship Award in 2024, he underwent fellowship training in Sleep Medicine at Northwestern University in Chicago, USA. He is trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I), has the International Sleep Disorders Specialist designation from the World Sleep Society, and is a Fellow of the Chapter of Sleep Medicine, Academy of Medicine. His clinical and research interests are in insomnia disorder, including comorbid insomnia and sleep apnea (COMISA), as well as circadian rhythm disorders.

Dr Eng also contributes to neurostimulation services, having led the psychiatry department's Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT) service since 2021 and helped establish the repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (rTMS) service in 2022 in collaboration with the Department of Neurology. He serves as Vice-Chairman for the Section of Neurostimulation in the College of Psychiatrists, Academy of Medicine.

In medical education, Dr Eng serves as Associate Programme Director for the NHG Health Psychiatry Residency Programme and as an examiner for the Royal College of Psychiatrists, UK. He is a Clinical Assistant Professor at Duke-NUS Medical School and NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, with a focus on sleep medicine education and training. He regularly speaks and conducts training in sleep medicine and neurostimulation.
