Dr. Fong Hui Chai is a Plastic Surgeon with a clinical focus on reconstructive microsurgery, managing complex defects arising from trauma or cancer surgery. His practice comprises a range of reconstructive procedures, including breast reconstruction, sarcoma surgery, complex hernia repair, and lymphoedema management.
In collaboration with the Vascular Surgery Service, Dr. Fong consults regularly at the HEAL Limb Preservation Clinic — a multidisciplinary service dedicated to the management of diabetic, vascular, and other complex wounds.
Dr. Fong completed his undergraduate medical training at Monash University, Australia, followed by residency in Plastic Surgery with Singhealth. He is dual certified in Plastic Surgery by the Academy of Medicine, Singapore, and the Royal College of Surgeons of Glasgow. He further completed fellowship training in lymphatic reconstruction with the European School of Reconstructive Microsurgery.
Actively engaged in research, Dr. Fong serves as principal and co-investigator on translational projects developing a 3D-printed synthetic dermal substitute for partial-thickness skin wounds. This collaborative work has led to several patent filings and first-in-human clinical trials.
Beyond his clinical and research roles, Dr. Fong is committed to surgical education. He regularly contributes to microsurgery training for medical students and junior doctors, and serves as Course Chairman for the SingHealth Microsurgery Fundamentals and Techniques Workshop.
