Robert completed his training in Hand Surgery in 2016. Currently he is the Head of Department of Hand & Reconstructive Microsurgery in Singapore General Hospital. His interest in Hand & Reconstructive Microsurgery includes degenerative conditions of the hand & wrist, peripheral nerve surgery and minimally invasive surgery of the joints of the hand & wrist. In 2021 for his clinical work, he was awarded the SGH CEO Service Award.
He is a visiting consultant for KK Women's and Children’s Hospital and Sengkang General Hospital
He is actively involved with undergraduate and postgraduate training of Hand Surgery in Singapore. Currently he holds appointments as Clinical Assistant Professor with Duke NUS Medical school and Adjunct Assistant Professor with Yong Loo Lin Medical School NUS. He received the Dean’s Award for teaching Excellence for academic year 2013/14 & 2016/17 from YLL Medical School
For post graduate training, he is Clinical Physician Faculty Member With 2 SingHealth residency programs namely Orthopaedic Surgery, and Surgery in General. As well as Core Faculty for Hand Surgery Residency. He is a member of the residency advisory committee for Hand Surgery. In 2019 he was convenor for the Singapore Hand Surgery Exit Examination.
For research, he is a principal investigator for a project that received the SingHealth Duke NUS Academic Medicine Research Grant Initiative 2023 (In-vivo validation of novel synthetic braided scaffold for tendon reconstructive surgery).
He is the current President for Singapore Society for Surgery of the Hand.
