Global Awards

SGH is Newsweek World's Best Hospital for Singapore

Each year, Newsweek and international data firm Statista team up and rank the best global hospitals across a multitude of countries to offer a data-based listing of hospitals ranked by performance and reputation.

In addition to rating the world's best hospitals, Newsweek & Statista also rank hospitals based on their capabilities in AI, digital imaging, telemedicine, robotics, and electronic functionalities under the “World’s Best Smart Hospitals" category.


SGH is delighted to have been ranked amongst more than 300 global institutions since the inception of this award category.

SGH has been ranked amongst the Best Academic Medical Centre in Brand Finance Global Top 250 Hospitals since 2024.

Since 1999, SGH has represented Singapore as the main representative in lending its expertise in nuclear medicine to spearhead research and training in the peaceful use of nuclear technology.


In 2022, a Singapore government representative received an international award on behalf of SGH for its contributions in the development of nuclear medicine in the APAC region. This award was later presented to SGH in 2023.
ACS NSQIP empowers hospitals to gauge the quality of their surgical programmes with data that enables a hospital to zero on preventable complications.

National Awards

The Ministry of Health’s HIP Medals recognises national healthcare institutions that have exhibited thought leadership by implementing innovative productivity projects.

3 SGH projects obtained Best Practice Medals this year. Our devotion to patients and our desire to make a difference to their lives have continuously fuelled our efforts to innovate and improve with a digital-ready mindset. These have been key driving forces in various projects over the years such enhanced recovery programmes and the “4 Dimensional Disease Outbreak Surveillance System” (4D-DOSS) which are geared towards delivering better care for patients. These projects include:
  • Enhanced Recovery After Surgery for Patients Undergoing Knee Arthroplasty
  • 4D-Disease Outbreak and Surveillance System (4D-DOSS) - Automation, IT & Robotics Innovation
  • Developing a Digital-ready Workforce Through Improvement and Innovation in Division of Medicine

  • SGH was proud to clinch the Care Redesign Best Practice Medal for the Perioperative Programme for Elderly (PREPARE) which leveraged a full medical team to provide end-to-end support for patients that were preparing for surgery.
  • The Prime Minister's Office National Awards 2022 celebrates individuals and teams who made outstanding contributions to Singapore's fight against COVID-19.
