Nuclear Medicine physicians are medical specialists that are licensed to use tracers, usually radiopharmaceuticals, for diagnosis and therapy. Nuclear medicine procedures are the major clinical applications of molecular imaging and molecular therapy.  PET and Gamma imaging uses tracers for assessment of various conditions.

Radionuclide therapy directly targets cells using radioactive substances to treat certain cancers and non-cancerous diseases.
