Ad Maulod is a cultural anthropologist and Senior Research Fellow at the Centre for Ageing Research and Education (CARE), Duke-NUS Medical School, Singapore. His research interest lies at the intersections of culture, medicine and the body. Since 2016, he has conducted interviews with over 700 older persons, and with those stories, translated cultural concepts of health and ageing into effective programme and policy interventions. Ad believes in the wisdom and empowerment of our elders by amplifying their stories and advocating for an inclusive, compassionate and just society for all-ages.

Presenting Title:

"Thank You for Including Us": Research as Collaborative Care in the Community

In recent years, there has been a growing recognition of the pivotal role research plays in fostering holistic care within community settings. This presentation explores the concept of research as collaborative care and advocates for the integration of research practices with community-based care initiatives. Based on key examples across our research projects and initiatives, befriending the community is about understanding needs of various stakeholders, promoting involvement in healthcare interventions, encourage patient/ person-centeredness, as well as empower marginalized communities. Ultimately, this presentation highlights the importance of reimagining research as a tool for compassionate and contextually relevant care within diverse community settings.
