The Data Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (DSAIL) drives artificial intelligence advancement at Singapore General Hospital, where we pioneer new approaches to healthcare technology. With specialties in Artificial intelligence (AI) and Machine learning (ML), our team develops and deploys models that are improve how healthcare decisions are made and delivered. We work across a comprehensive range of technologies, from predictive analytics and computer vision to large language models (LLM) and generative AI, always with the goal of enhancing patient care and healthcare efficiency.

Our expertise spans multiple sophisticated domains, including retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) and advanced AI and ML applications. Through close collaboration with clinicians and researchers, we translate complex AI and ML advancements into practical improvements in healthcare delivery, ensuring that our technological innovations have real-world impact.

Our Projects

Our flagship project involves developing a lightweight foundation model for vision-based medical applications. Key achievements include:

Creation of an efficient vision transformer using Mixture-of-Experts (MoE) strategies
Implementation of SwiGLU feedforward networks and grouped query attention
Reduction of model size to 0.67M parameters whilst maintaining robust performance
Development of deployable solutions for real-world healthcare settings
