Profile

Since joining SGH in 1988, Clinical Assoc Prof Wong was the Head of Breast Specialty in General Surgery till 2007. He has trained many Breast Specialists now working both in the Private and Public Sector. Breast referral clinic in SGH on Friday for which all patients with breast problems would be referred to was setup by him.

The Breast Counselling Services with the Breast Care Nurses was also introduced and setup first at SGH and has since then trained many Breast Care Nurses from the other various hospitals as well as from oversea.

Trauma Services in SGH involving multi-disciplinary approached for the management of poly traumatizes patients was established by him with the help of Dr Allen Yeo who succeeded him. He was one of the first few qualify Advanced Trauma Life Support Trainers in 1992. The Trauma Registry, Trauma Audit, Trauma Lecture Serials and Multi-Disciplinary Trauma Meetings are organized by them since 1997.

Adj Assoc Prof Wong is the Director of the Ambulatory Surgery Centre since 1993. The ASC is now an efficiently run Centre catering to the needs of patients and surgeons alike. His recent project is the setting up of the short stay ward in which patients after more complicated surgery are monitored and discharged within 24hrs.
