Dr Leow Wei Qiang is currently a senior consultant pathologist at the Department of Anatomical Pathology, Division of Pathology, Singapore General Hospital. He graduated from the Faculty of Medicine, National University of Singapore in 2006 and did his postgraduate training in Histopathology with the then Histopathology and Cytology Sections, Department of Pathology, Singapore General Hospital. He was awarded the fellowships from the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia and Academy of Medicine Singapore in 2015. His interests are in gastrointestinal and hepatopancreatobiliary pathology.
In 2016, he was awarded the SingHealth Health Manpower Development Plan to pursue advanced diagnostic training and research in hepatopancreatobiliary pathology and liver cancers at the Mount Sinai Liver Cancer Program at the Tisch Cancer Institute, under the tutelage of Professors Swan N. Thung and Josep M. Llovet respectively. He has research interests in hepatocellular carcinoma, cholangiocarcinoma, non-alcoholic steatohepatitis, autoimmune hepatitis, inflammatory bowel disease, colorectal carcinoma and gastrointestinal stromal tumours. He is also enthusiastic about teaching at the graduate and postgraduate levels, holding appointments of programme director to the SingHealth Pathology Residency Programme as well as adjunct instructorships to Duke-NUS Medical School and Nanyang Technological University.
