Your Clinic Visit

Consultations with our Specialists are strictly by appointment only.

Right Care, Right Place, Right Time

The public healthcare system is designed to make sure that all patients get the right care, in the right place, at the right time.

Making sure that patients with uncomplicated conditions are cared for by their Family Physician or in the local general hospital in your community means that a tertiary hospital such as SGH is able to care for those who have more complicated conditions.

How do I know if I am going to the right place for the right care?

Your Family Physician, in the GP clinic or polyclinic, is the best person to help determine where and who you should go to for the right care. With their clinical assessment of your condition and knowledge of the different levels of care in the healthcare system, they will be able to recommend whether you need to see a doctor with more specific expertise, ie by referring you to a specialist.

Their referral will also help you avoid problems that arise if you see the wrong type of specialist.

Tertiary Hospital Care

At SGH we emphasise a multi-disciplinary approach and team-based care, to care for our patients holistically. This means a team of doctors, nurses as well as allied health professionals such as pharmacists and therapists will be caring for you.
