Clinical Services

Plastic surgeons are trained in the art and science of human tissue healing, reconstruction and transformation. In addition to the restoration of normal, plastic surgery can also be done to improve a person’s appearance and function.

Our department’s surgeons are specialists covering the breadth of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic  Surgery. This includes wound healing, burns, reconstructive surgery of the head to the toe, lymphedema surgery, craniofacial surgery, as well as the the full spectrum of aesthetic surgery, lasers and minimally invasive procedures.

Reconstructive Surgery

Involves the restoration of form and function in any deformed or deficient area of the body, including but not limited to conditions such as cancer surgery, trauma, infection, burns or congenital malformations. 


Transplant surgery in which surgeons reconstruct one part of the patient’s body borrowing like tissues from another more distant part, using the microscope to reconnect submillimetre blood vessels and nerves.

SGH Laser and Scar Centre 

With the latest laser machines in the market, we specialize in:
  • Pigmentation problems; melasma
  • Improving appearance and symptoms of scars sustained from surgery, trauma, burns and acne.
  • Face and neck rejuvenation
  • Removal of moles/superficial skin lesions
  • Hair removal
  • Skin tightening using the Ultraformer III HIFU (High Intensity Focused Ultrasound) – the ‘Non-Surgical Face Lift’
    Ultrasound for tightening and lifting of the skin by heating up the superficial and deeper tissue, as well as the SMAS (Superficial Muscular Aponeurotic System) thereby stimulating existing collagen fibres, causing them to thicken and shorten leading to an overall tightening and lifting effect. Effective for:
    • Lifting of the lower face, sagging cheeks and loose skin under the chin/neck; slimming double chins
    • Improving appearance of grooves under the eyes, laugh lines, crow’s feet and marionette lines
    • Lifting of eyebrows

SGH burns centre and Skin Bank

The department’s burns centre has been at the forefront of Singapore and the South-East Asian region’s burns management for the past several decades. In addition to advanced burns surgery and life support, we have a dedicated burns unit including a comprehensive multi-disciplinary team, an intensive care unit and ward, and the Skin Bank, which is also involved in cutting-edge skin regeneration research. The centre’s services include:
  • Acute management of burns
  • Care of the massively burned patient
  • Burns intensive and high dependency care
  • Burn rehabilitation
  • Burns scar therapy
  • Management of dermatological emergencies (in collaboration with the SGH dermatology department)
