Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery Rehabilitation

As with all post-operative patient management, the primary goals of physiotherapy are respiratory care and mobilisation. In patients who have undergone reconstructive surgeries, this can be more challenging as the new flaps and grafts will require special care.

Our physiotherapists use modified techniques to assist such patients in mobilisation and prevent post-operative complications.

Common surgeries that would require post-operative physiotherapy includes:
  • Breast reconstruction following mastectomy
  • Facial trauma reconstruction
  • Head and neck reconstruction
  • Lower limb trauma
  • Tummy-tuck (abdominoplasty)
  • Liposuction
After discharge, such patients may return for outpatient physiotherapy to help reduce swelling and relieve tightness secondary to scarring or contractures.
