FINE NEEDLE ASPIRATION WITH ADJUNCTIVE TESTS

Specimen Required	Prepare one alcohol-fixed slide and one air-dried slide for each pass of aspiration. Aspirate the remaining material into a sterile container with formalin. Make another pass and place material in the same container, send to the laboratory as quickly as possible, or store in fridge at 4°C. The addition of a fixative should be indicated in the CPOE request and the word “formalin” be indicated clearly on the container.A cytology non-gynaecological CPOE request that is completed and properly filled up - see the CPOE request for details.
