SGH Listen and Talk Programme is 20 this year! Since we started in 2001, our team of ENT doctors, Audiologists and Auditory-Verbal Therapists in the Centre for Hearing and Ear Implants have been working closely to provide care for patients with hearing loss. To celebrate our 20th Anniversary, we interview some of our Allied Health Professionals. Read the interviews to get to know our AHPs better and learn more about the work that they do at our Centre.

Mdm Sie Swee Hoon, Audiometrician

Mdm Sie is the longest serving staff at the SGH Centre for Hearing and Ear Implants. She has been working at SGH since 1977!

She joined SGH when she was just 21 years old and was one of the first trained audiometricians in Singapore.

The bulk of her work involves conducting hearing tests for adult patients. Over the years, she has also been trained to conduct other hearing and balance assessments.

When the Universal Newborn Hearing Screening Programme (UNHS) started in 1999, she was one of the fist audiometricians in charge of screening newborn babies for hearing loss. Today, newborn hearing screening is done by nurses at the neonatal ward.
