Brentuximab Vedotin - What is it for

​Brentuximab-vedotin consists of an antibody (brentuximab) and a chemotherapy drug linked together. The antibody helps deliver the chemotherapy drug more specifically to cancer cells, to fight against them.

What side effects can Brentuximab Vedotin cause?

During infusion

Allergic reaction may occur. Please alert the nurse if you experience any of the following symptoms during infusion: itch, rashes, fever, chills, shivering or shortness of breath.

Other possible side effects
  • Fatigue
  • Drop in blood cell counts
  • Numbness and tingling in your feet or hands
  • Diarrhea or constipation
  • Mild skin rash or itch
  • Hair thinning

Inform your doctor if any of the following occurs:

  • Fever of 38°C or higher
  • Unusual bleeding, bruising or black tarry stools
  • Severe abdominal pain
  • Shortness of breath, worsening or persistent cough
  • Change in mood or behaviour, speech or visual disturbances
