"Cycling 200km for patients in need is symbolic as SGH celebrates 200 years of our history this year. We have been able to get to where we are because of the support for and trust in SGH. I hope that through this humble effort, we will inspire many to come forward to support the less privileged among us. Every kind act makes a difference."

"On 27 March, our cycling team will cycle 200km around Singapore to celebrate SGH's 200 year old legacy of serving and caring for our country's population. It is therefore apt that we are doing the ride in support of the SGH Needy Patients Fund. We have been training hard for many weeks and as a leisure "kampung" cyclist, it has been challenging for me personally. I hope this small humble act will encourage donations to support our patients in need. Every one kind act will mean so much to our patients."

Assoc Prof Ruban Poopalalingam
Chairman, Medical Board, SGH
Chair, SGH200 Organising Committee

"SGH is a remarkable place to work in - we have a superb culture of coming together to care, people with incredible skills to make sure we strive for the best outcomes for our patients and infrastructure to aid us to put our patients at the hearts of all we do. However, I often witness the unseen struggles our patients face. We care for the sickest and they struggle when they are barely making ends meet. We cannot provide the best care possible if their struggles are ignored. So it is incredible when our patients can get relief from the SGH Needy Patients Fund. You see their darkness turn to light and caring for them becomes more effective. But the money has to come somewhere."

Senior Consultant, Renal Medicine, SGH

"Hi there, my name is Tunggal Jagat Bin Khairul. I've been working as a nurse in SGH for 15 years and I vividly remember my encounters with patients in need. Some do not have a home to return to, no loved ones to lend support or unable to pay for medical treatments. Despite having existing public assistance schemes, there are still many patients who have exhausted those schemes and cannot afford the cost of certain critical clinical care and indirect costs. The SGH Needy Patients Fund comes in to support these group of needy patients with financial assistance to access basic and life-saving needs, thus, allowing our patients to focus on their recovery.
