Dr Tay Kae Sian currently serves as a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon and the Director of Foot and Ankle Surgery in Singapore General Hospital. His clinical expertise includes foot and ankle surgery, lower limb fractures, joint replacements, deformity correction, limb lengthening, bone infection, and the use of the Ilizarov external fixator.
Dr Tay completed his specialist training in Orthopaedic Surgery in Singapore, and has been appointed a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. He has completed fellowships with advanced training in complex foot and ankle surgery and in lower limb reconstruction and deformity correction at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, and the Hull Royal Infirmary respectively, in the UK.
Outside of clinical work, Dr Tay also contributes to medical education by teaching in medical schools as well as surgeons in post-graduate training programs. He firmly believes in mentorship of future generations of doctors. He has been appointed to teaching positions in all 3 local medical schools, and oversees the Foot and Ankle Clinical Fellowship Program at SGH.
Dr Tay is also actively involved in orthopaedic research. He believes in the power of clinical research to change practices and improve outcomes for patients. He has published and presented multiple studies worldwide, in conferences and medical journals, and has been invited to give multiple talks at international conferences.
