Dr Soong Junwei

Dr Soong Junwei is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at Singapore General Hospital, with a clinical focus on knee preservation, sports injuries, and lower limb deformity correction. After graduating from the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine at the National University of Singapore in 2014, he completed orthopaedic residency training from 2016 to 2022 and obtained his Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons (Edinburgh).

Dr Soong has a strong clinical interest in knee preservation procedures, including arthroscopic surgery, ligament reconstruction, cartilage restoration, and around-the-knee osteotomy. His practice integrates both joint preservation and knee arthroplasty, allowing for a comprehensive and patient-specific approach to knee conditions. He has undergone fellowship training in knee preservation surgery at Hyogo Medical University, Japan, where he gained exposure to contemporary osteotomy techniques and joint preservation concepts, which he incorporates into personalised treatment strategies.

In addition to his clinical work, Dr Soong is actively involved in research and education. He has contributed to peer-reviewed publications in high tibial osteotomy and total knee arthroplasty outcomes, reflecting his interest in bridging joint preservation and joint replacement strategies. His research includes translational work in 3D printing, mixed reality navigation, and technology-assisted orthopaedic surgery. He has been awarded multiple competitive research grants as Principal Investigator, supporting work in these areas as well as biomechanical evaluation of osteotomy techniques and navigated systems for lower limb deformity correction.

Dr Soong also serves as Director and Secretary of the Singapore Knee Preservation Society, contributing to education, training, and the advancement of knee preservation surgery. He is actively involved in teaching and has received recognition for his contributions to orthopaedic education.
