About Doctor

Dr Heng is a consultant orthopedic surgeon at SGH Department of Orthopedic Surgery. He specializes in spine surgery and has a special interest in minimally invasive spine surgery, endoscopic spine surgery, and anterior/lateral approaches to the lumbar spine.

He studied medicine at the National University of Singapore’s Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine (Class of 2014). He undertook his residency with the Singhealth Orthopedic Surgery Residency Programme, where he did most of his training at the Department of Orthopedic Surgery of Singapore General Hospital. He completed his training in 2023, receiving the credentials of FRCSEd (Orthopedic Surgery), and began his career as a spine surgeon at SGH. He did a fellowship in spinal deformity and navigated spine surgery in Japan.

He is active in education and is appointed as a clinical lecturer/instructor in the 3 medical schools in Singapore (NUS/NTU/Duke-NUS). He is also active in clinical/basic science research, having been awarded several research grants from local as well as international research societies.

Dr Heng is fluent in English and Mandarin and can also converse in Hokkien, Cantonese and Malay. He also speaks basic French.

In his free time, he enjoys playing tennis/golf, watching football, building Lego, and spending time with family and friends.
