Clin Asst Prof Gita Karande

Dr Gita Karande is a Consultant Radiologist at SGH and currently serves as Patient Safety Officer in the Department of Musculoskeletal Radiology. She began her medical career in India, earning a Diploma in Medical Radiodiagnosis from the University of Mumbai and a Diplomate of the National Board in Radiodiagnosis. She later completed her specialist training in Singapore, obtaining her MMed (Diagnostic Radiology) from the National University of Singapore and FRCR from the Royal College of Radiologists (UK).

Dr Karande completed a HMDP-awarded fellowship in Oncoimaging at the University of Washington Medical Center. She is widely published and serves on the editorial board of Radiology Case Reports.

Actively involved in education and quality improvement, Dr Karande has led initiatives in MRI spine protocol harmonisation, contrast media policy updates, and is a strong advocate for appropriate imaging. She plays a key role in imaging protocol optimisation, patient safety, and policy development.

Dr Karande has a special interest in oncologic and sports imaging.
